Original Meeting Information Below:

Environmental events have dramatically highlighted an increasing need for resilience and reliability of equipment and utility delivery systems in both the public and private sectors. Please join us to learn more about what the future might demand for “Practical Resilience.” We will hear three presentations and perspectives from the academic, state and private sectors.

Thinking about adaptation to apparent rapidly increasing climate intensity could be an increasingly important part of system design, now or in the not-so-distant future.  This session highlights that and is designed to prepare our membership to help clients and end users consider these new realities when upgrading or designing new building systems for increased resiliance.

To set the stage, Dr. Richard Palmer, Department Head, Civil and Environmental Engineering, UMass Amherst, will share his climate findings, based on a wide variety of different, existing predictive models.  This will paint a picture of probable impacts for both the immediate and distant future.

Sarah White, Officer from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency will discuss what the State of Massachusetts is doing in response to prioritize resiliance.

Amy Benoit, Director of Sales and Marketing, 24 Services, will talk about the weather effects being witnessing in the region today, real world impacts, and what they do in response.
