December 2018 Meeting - Technology Innovation Night & Toys for Tots Drive

Join AEE New England in learning about the latest cutting edge technologies in the energy efficiency industry! Listen to representatives from five different companies speak about products that could be implemented in your next energy project.

Also, AEE will be hosting a toy drive for Toys for Tots again this year. The foundation has noted that they are always short of toys in the 0-2 years and 6-12 years age ranges. Please bring new, non-wrapped gifts to this months meeting. We will have a toy donation box and will make sure your donated holiday toy finds a good home.

The following speakers will be presenting:

Speaker #1

"The Intersection of Distributed Energy, Micogrids, Energy Efficiency, and E-Mobility"

Ian Ross & Allison Shields

Enel X North America, Inc.

Enel X is the technology innovation division of Enel Group that focuses on distributed energy, microgrids, energy efficiency, and e-mobility.  Our presentation will provide an introduction to the company and our solutions available today for New England Commercial and Industrial customers. First we’ll dive into demand response, which pays large energy users to reduce their electricity consumption for a few hours each year. Second, we’ll take a look at energy storage and how it can help optimize the economics of doing demand response, peak demand management, and solar PV, while also making these programs and technologies more accessible.

Speaker #2

“Advanced System for Cooling and Heating Plant Efficiency"

Paul McLaine

ElectroCell Systems

ElectroCell is an innovative, patented side- stream particle precipitator that increases the efficiency and reliability of commercial, industrial, and institutional HVAC recirculating water systems.

Speaker #3

“Up-Date of VFD Technology Advancements”

Roger T. Fritz

Senior Energy Adviser

New Wave Power

Variable speed drives (VSDs), sometimes also known as variable frequency drives, are electronic devices used to regulate the speed of an ac induction motor. Electric motors consume approximately 70% of the world’s electricity for industrial and consumer applications.  Advancements in capacitors and direct current (DC) link reactors, transistors, heat management, processing power and measuring technology are all enabling the development of solutions to problems that were not even recognized earlier.  Roger will provide us with the benefits of such advancements.

Speaker #4

Ice Bear - Thermal Storage for Roof Top Units

Chris Tomasini

VP of North East Region

Ice Energy

Office: (833) 423-2665

The Ice Bear is a smart, distributed thermal battery that seamlessly integrates with a building’s cooling system and answers the needs of commercial, industrial and residential customers.  The Ice Bear battery, attaches to 4-20 tons commercial AC units while Ice Bear 20, our home battery, integrates with ductwork or ductless mini-split systems inside new or existing homes.

Speaker #5

Voltage Harmonizer - Variable Voltage Transformer – Legend Power Systems

Richard Costello, PE, MSEM, BSME, CEM

President - Acela Energy Group, Inc.

Cell: 781 883 5256

The Voltage Harmonizer measures the incoming supply and tunes it down to the right amount. By dynamically throttling voltage, your building uses less power. You pay less because you use less. Your electrical equipment lasts its full useful life because the voltage supply matches the voltage demand. Your building is greener and has less of an impact on the environment.
